Ontario Women's Football League Announces the Launch of New Fall Flag Divisions
In the fall of 2024, the Ontario Women's Football League (OWFL) will launch three girls' and women's flag football divisions and begin play in Ontario's first provincial flag league. Teams at the U20, U16 and U14 age groups will participate in weekend stand-alone tournaments across the province, starting in September and finishing in November, using the standard Football Canada 5v5 flag football format. Some tournaments will be run by member organizations, others will be hosted alongside the fall Ontario Women's Intercollegiate Football Association (OWIFA) tournaments. The final tournament will be held as part of the Vanier Cup celebrations in Kingston.
Participation in the OWFL Fall Flag division is open to any Football Ontario member organization and not limited to existing OWFL members. The growth of women's flag football in Ontario has been extensive in recent years and there is now a clear pathway for players through the Team Ontario High Performance programs and the OWIFA, a university and college flag football league.
Organizations interested in fielding teams in the OWFL Fall Football division, or who may be interested in hosting a tournament weekend, are invited to email the address below for more information.
