The Scotia Minor Hockey League (SMHL) has an immediate opening for a Regional Director within the Cape Breton Region.
Direct Supervisor: Competitive Coordinator
Closing Date: Friday December 4, 2020 at 1700hr
The Scotia Minor Hockey League is committed to providing a positive hockey experience for players, coaches, and parents, based on the principles of sportsmanship, skill development and fair play.
This volunteer position responsibilities include:
i. Represent teams/associations with their respective region with all league business
ii. Chair any playoff tournaments or Day of Champions (DOC) in their respective region
iii. Assist the Recreational and Competitive Coordinators with other league business
Although time may vary throughout the minor hockey season, this position is anticipated to require less than 30 minutes of volunteer work per week, normally consisting of phone calls within the associations.
As the Chair of playoff tournaments, additional time may be required for execution of this responsibility as required. It is expected for the Chair to form and oversee a volunteer tournament committee for playoff tournaments and DOC activities.
During the offseason, monthly board meetings are expected; normally meetings are 90 minutes.
Please note that SMHL is adding this interim position for the Cape Breton Region for the 2020/21 minor hockey season. It is anticipated that this role will be formally added to the SMHL Constitution at the next board Annual General Meeting.
