Player recognition

News Image
We had numerous comments about this young player from the Western Valley Peewee AA team on his above and beyond sportsmanship and his leadership abilities and we feel this can not go unnoticed. Please see the message below published by the SMHL executive.

The Scotia Minor Hockey League would like to recognize Western Valley Peewee AA player - Justin Conrad for his devotion to sportsmanship during the recent Peewee AA playoff Tournament. Justin had just been part of a tough Double Overtime loss to Truro in the championship game, but where most players would be overcome with emotion and frustration, Justin showed his true human spirit.

During the medal ceremony, Justin made all efforts to ensure Truro's - Brayden Cream, who suffers from Duchenne's Muscular Dystrophy and is confined to a wheelchair, would enjoy the on-ice celebration. Multiple high fives and congratulations were given by Justin to Brayden during the ceremony, and Brayden has kept those memories fresh with him ever since.

Justin’s gestures and ability to see "the big picture", after losing a final game, shows both maturity and wisdom, well beyond his years.

We at the Scotia Minor Hockey League would like to officially thank Justin for his positive actions, being a definition of a true leader and role model, and for making Brayden's hockey experience truly memorable.

Sincerely,

Brendan Mosher

President
