League Mission
The mission of the Gila Monsters Ball Hockey League is to give boys and girls a fun hockey experience and create a passion for the sport of hockey that will help it grow.
We believe that hockey at the grass roots level should be fun based on participation by all, should promote safety, fair play, sportsmanship and provide basic street hockey skills for all participants.
Our program will teach players basic hockey skills in a fun, safe & positive environment for all participants that is not over complicated with too many drills & practices.
The most important thing of all is to let the children enjoy the game and have fun!

About the Gila Monsters Ball Hockey League
The Gila Monsters Ball Hockey League is a program designed to promote the game of hockey and physical fitness.
Ball hockey can contribute to the development of children’s health, physical fitness, motor skills, knowledge & understanding of movement concepts, sportsmanship and other beneficial social skills inherent in team sports.
Ball hockey is an active sport that is played using a hockey stick fitted with a plastic blade, a plastic hockey ball, and athletic shoes.
Our hockey curriculum teaches the fundamental skills of ball hockey and explains the basic rules of the game. From day 1, players will learn about the importance of safety and respect for others in their playing environment.

The first few weeks of the program we will divide players into teams and will play multiple scrimmage games per week so we can see all players playing to evaluate their skills.
These scrimmage weeks will prepare all players for the regular season where we will divide all players into several teams evenly matched as possible.
The remaining weeks of the program will have teams playing full games against each other, there will be a regular season of play consisting of approximately 6 games followed by a 1-round play-off and a final round where all teams will compete.

The program uses the sport of hockey to instill everyday values such as Hard Work, Dedication, Perseverance, Respect, and Responsibility in players. Hockey is a sport rooted in these important values and in many cases, it is common to see NHL hockey players draw from them to attain success during a tough National Hockey League season.

It’s important that participants understand good sportsmanship and know that “good sports” are indeed the real winners of the game. Here are some examples of how this program will be promoting good sportsmanship:

*Have the children shake hands with the opposing team after every game. 
*Enforce game rules for all participants.
*Be a role model of positive behavior.
*Repeatedly support and encourage all participants.

League Goal
The goal of the Gila Monsters Ball Hockey League is to provide a fun positive experience where players will learn an appreciation for the sport of hockey and physical fitness as well as learn the necessary character values needed for success in life.
The Gila Monsters Ball Hockey League is an LLC, a for profit company, however we intentionally keep league fees as low as possible so that cost would be less of a barrier for a child who wants to play.
Our fees cover the essential expenses of each season, with little to no profit or personal financial gain.
Any profits that may be earned by the league will be used for league needs as the Gila Monsters Ball Hockey League was not created for any personal gain, it was created to provide a fun, safe, positive environment for the recreational play of ball hockey for boys and girls.
