Winter Camp Update: Weeks 5 & 6 – The Turning Point

News Image

As we crossed the halfway mark of our 2026 Winter Camp, Weeks 5 and 6 marked a clear shift in energy, confidence, and cohesion across all position groups.

These weeks weren’t just about adding new drills — they were about connecting everything our athletes have been building since January.

Week 5 – The Checkpoint

Week 5 served as a mid-camp benchmark.

Our Running Backs engaged in competitive plyometric sessions designed to measure progress from Week 1, reinforcing change-of-direction mechanics and explosiveness. It wasn’t just conditioning — it was measurable growth.

Our Offensive and Defensive Linemen participated in a technique checkpoint session. This allowed our coaches to evaluate retention, reinforce fundamentals, and identify areas for refinement before entering the second half of camp.

Quarterbacks and Wide Receivers collaborated more intentionally, focusing on timing, rhythm, and movement-based throwing. For the first time this camp, you could see the pieces coming together in real time.

In film, we shifted focus to what happens after the snap — reinforcing effort, positioning, and play continuation. The message was clear: football is about more than the first movement.

We also took time to celebrate the halfway milestone together — because discipline, consistency, and commitment deserve recognition.

Week 6 – Adding Complexity

Week 6 officially launched the second half of Winter Camp, and with it came increased complexity.

Quarterbacks worked on throwing to moving targets, rollout mechanics, and play-action concepts — developing composure while in motion.

Wide Receivers expanded their route work with greater emphasis on tight breaks, trigger steps, and timing.

Running Backs introduced linebacker drills to better understand pursuit angles and defensive responsibilities — strengthening their football IQ from both sides of the ball.

Our Offensive and Defensive Linemen welcomed guest coaching support, focusing on pass protection techniques, agility, and line movement efficiency.

Strength & Conditioning introduced controlled explosive movement, emphasizing safe landing mechanics and balance under fatigue — a critical injury prevention component for developing athletes.

Film study shifted toward recognizing effort versus outcome — teaching athletes that growth comes from process, not just results.

By the end of Week 6, something was noticeably different. Movements were sharper. Communication was stronger. Confidence was building.

Winter Camp had officially turned the corner.
