Tim Turk Summer Hockey Camp Brings Elite Training to Regina & Saskatoon

Over the course of three intensive days, players progressed through a carefully designed program that emphasized both the technical and mental aspects of skill development:

  • Day 1 – Building the Foundation: Athletes worked on puck control and body positioning, focusing on keeping the puck in a pre-set, front-loaded stance. Players were introduced to the Stride Formation, which stabilizes the body before, during, and after a shot.

  • Day 2 – Skills in Motion: Drills emphasized positioning while skating, including backward movement, low stance balance, and proper arm mechanics. Players learned how the grip and power hands work together to generate velocity and accuracy.

  • Day 3 – Progression & Power: The final day combined decision-making with advanced shooting mechanics. Participants alternated between prepared and non-prepared positions, used fakes to create opportunities, and practiced identifying targets under pressure. The focus was on quickness, power, and recognizing which muscle groups are engaged in effective shooting.

Coach Tim Turk reminded participants that mastery comes from applying at least one key improvement into their game. Players who engaged fully saw noticeable progress over the course of the camp, leaving with tools to continue their development throughout the season

The River City Athletic Association extends a big thank-you to all the players, families, and coaches who made this camp a success. With strong participation and visible improvement from athletes, we look forward to bringing more elite training opportunities to our hockey community in the future.
