It was marketed as Opening Day, Part 2 for the TYSA Junior Division but it may have doubled as the Tiffin Moose’s 2023 coming out party.

The Tiffin Moose team would need only 5 innings to defeat Bair Brothers Tuesday night 13-2.

Led by Player of the Game P/1B Jett Pachlhofer whose 2-4 night at the plate would include an absolute bomb to right center field that cleared the fence with ease. He would end the game with 4 RBI.

Pachlhofer wasn’t alone though, he had plenty of help.

It didn’t take long for Moose to introduce themselves to everyone. SS/P Adam Young led off the game with a single. A couple stolen bases later he was standing on third, scoring then on a Pachlhofer triple to deep centerfield. Moose would close out the scoring with an RBI single from C Jacob Mildner making it 3-0 before Bair Brothers came to the plate.

Bair Brothers wasn’t shaken though, SS Dallas Glenn worked a walk to beginning the inning, stealing second before ending up on third after a wild pitch. Pachlhofer continued with an up and down inning, getting a quick strikeout before a walk and a hit by pitch would load the bases. Another strikeout would be followed by a hit by pitch to 1B James Koch to force in Glenn with Bair Brothers' first run. A groundout would finally end the inning.

Moose would tack on another run in the second, LF Alexander Hoffman would get a walk and eventually score on a double by Young.

Bair Brothers would continue to fight back in the bottom of the inning, LF Austin Link would single to lead off the inning and after an error and a stolen base he would score on a sacrifice fly by Glenn to make the game 4-2.

The third inning is where the game had its seismic shift. The top of the inning saw Moose explode for 6 runs on just 3 hits. Mildner led off with his second single of the night and end up turning it into a little league homerun after an error in the outfield. RF Riley Solomon would work a walk and quickly score on a double by 2B Brennan Mehling. CF Chris Bolton would single before Mehling could score on an RBI groundout by 3B AJ Kipps-Lucius. Bair Brothers would get another quick out before the top of the Moose order struck again. Young reached on a hit by pitch, stole second and third as 1B/SS Kolton Brown also walked before both of them would score as Pachlhofer reached on a two base error. The top of the inning would end with a 10-2 Moose lead.

Moose would finish out the game riding the pitching of Pachlhofer and Young. Over the last three innings they would combine for 0 runs, one hit and 3 strikeouts. Pachlhofer would add 2 pickoffs for good measure.

CF Ethan Wilcox would generate the only hit for Bair Brothers over that span, a single.

Moose would use a Mehling hit by pitch and a Hoffman single and an error to score two runs in the fourth and J. Pachlhofer would put the finishing touch on the game with a solo blast to deep right center field to make it 13-2.

Moose brought the offense, producing 13 runs on 10 hits, spreading them out amongst 6 different hitters, including multi hit games from Young, Pachlhofer and Mildner. Pachlhofer and Young would combine to go 5 innings, giving up 3 runs (3 ER) on 2 hits, collecting 6 strikeouts on the mound. Pachlhofer (1-0) earned the victory, his first of the year.

Bair Brothers’ Elijah Robbins (0-1) took his first loss of the season, lasting 2 innings and he did collect 5 strikeouts.

Bair Brothers (0-1) will look to right the ship as they are back in action tomorrow night June 7th against Firefighters (0-1).

Moose (1-0) will take their undefeated record into Thursday night in a showdown with undefeated Tiffin Eagles (1-0).
