I have an open door policy and welcome a relationship which fosters your son’s development to become successful in the game of basketball and in pursuing his life’s goals. The following are set to provide a common understanding of my expectations of parent participation:
I look forward to discussing your player's goals and concerns. Please set up a meeting time with me, and I will gladly review your player (not any other player).
I recognize that this is my player’s journey. I will focus on being supportive and encouraging. *
I will be a positive role model and good example of sportsmanship. Coach’s expectation is to have players who give the team the best chance to win; player who work hard in every practice, who are coachable, and have a team-focused attitude. *
I will celebrate my player's effort and growth, not just results. Emphasize good execution and sportsmanship over winning. *
I will support my player in difficult situations. If they don’t get the playing time expected or suffer a tough loss, use the experience as a teaching opportunity. Discuss what they can do in the future to contribute to a different outcome. *
As a member of the Morgan Dawgs family, I will cheer on all the players and support the team as a whole. *
I will cheer for my player, but let the coaching staff give them instruction. Players need to remain focused on the game and what the coaching staff is saying. It is a distraction to the player and team to hear “coaches” from the stands. *
I will display proper respect and sportsmanship toward coaches, my player's teammates, referees, opposing players, fellow spectators, and facility staff at all times. Display control, respect, and professionalism to all involved with the sport. *
I will respect the decisions of the coaches and referees (no arguing, talking back, intimidating, or threatening). No matter your opinion on a call, it stands. Referees usually have better positioning and knowledge to make the right call. *
Players and parents/guardians, conduct yourself in such a manner that you bring credit to yourself, your family, your teammates, and to Morgan Dawgs Elite Basketball and the surrounding community. Never engage in any activity that can be construed as inappropriate for a member of Morgan Dawgs Elite Basketball and comply with the expectations outlined in Player, Travel, and Parent/Guardian Code of Conduct agreements.
We have read and understand the code of conduct for student athletes with Morgan Dawgs Elite Basketball. We agree to follow this code of conduct and understand that failure to do so could result in additional financial expenses and/or termination of the player’s privileges to participate.
