COED 6s Rules
MATCH FORMAT
- Time permitting: Best of 5 (first 3 to 25, last two sets to 21)
TEAM REQUIREMENTS (Co-Ed Sixes)
- Minimum 1 female and maximum 4 males on the court at all times.
- Only 2 males in the front row may attack. (Lineups with 3 male hitters in the front row are not allowed.)
ROTATIONS & SUBSTITUTIONS
- Machine liberoing is not allowed — all players must rotate through every position.
- A libero may be used for a back-row player only, but the corresponding front-row player must come off the court during those 3 rotations.
TIME-OUTS
ATTACK & CONTACT RULES
- If there is more than one contact on a side, a female must touch the ball before a male can legally attack above the net.
- Any contact of the ball over the plane of the net is considered an attack (whether or not the player leaves their feet)
- A defensive block does not count as one of the three allowable contacts.
- The serve may not be blocked or attacked.
- Serves that hit the net and go over are legal.
- Open-hand receives are allowed on serve receive and first contact.
- A player may touch but may not completely cross over the centerline with their foot.
GENERAL RULES
- USA VOLLEYBALL Rules apply unless otherwise stated.
- Official ball: Molten Flistatec or Pro Touch (unless both captains agree otherwise).
REFEREES
- All games will be refereed.
- Captains are responsible for recording the results of their game in the Teamlinkt App
- Our team will monitor all courts during the playoffs and will be available for any and all questions, concerns, or discrepancies that may arise.
- Honor calls are accepted and appreciated.
PLAYER ELIGIBILITY
- These leagues are set for the BB and A/AA level of play as determined by BEER.
- If a player is deemed significantly higher than the BB or A/AA level, and it creates a health or safety risk, that player will be asked to remain “grounded.”
- Grounded = the player will not be allowed to attack the ball above the plane of the net.
SPORTSMANSHIP
- The purpose of this league is to have fun.
- Games may become intense, but players are expected to stay competitive while maintaining good sportsmanship.
- Any behavior deemed unacceptable by staff may result in suspension and/or ejection from the league.
FORFEITS
- If your team must forfeit, contact management to see if subs are available within the league to cover the match.
- Subs must be approved by management prior to match start (see Player Eligibility).
- A team that forfeits will be charged the referee fees for that match.
PLAYOFFS
- All eligible teams will make the playoffs.
- The league will be split into Gold and Silver brackets for the final two weeks.
- Players must have played at least two regular season matches to be playoff eligible.
- Playoff format:
- Best of 5 - First 4 sets to 25, 1 set to 15...no cap
